Sacred Foundations: Essential Principles for Compassion End-of-Life 
Care.  

Led by Thomas Daniel, PhD, ELP, this online four-session introductory course offers a grounded, compassionate entry point into end-of-life work—before formal training begins. Designed for those who feel called to accompany others at the end-of-life, the course emphasizes clarity, self-awareness, and ethical presence. Participants will explore the end-of-life ecosystem, examine personal beliefs about death, and begin the essential inner work required for this role, all within a facilitated, supportive learning environment. No prior experience is required—only curiosity, honesty, and willingness to reflect. 

The Sacred Foundations course helps students assess emotional readiness, identify personal triggers, and understand what this work will genuinely ask of them—both emotionally and ethically. Whether you ultimately pursue the full End-of-Life Practitioner training or simply want a deeper relationship with mortality and end-of-life care, this course offers a thoughtful, discerning foundation that honors both the work and the people drawn to it.

 Level I - Compassionate Presence

ELP Level I - Compassionate Presence is The HeartWay's Level I End-of-Life Practitioner (ELP) & Death Doula Training that offers a bold, compassionate, and multidimensional approach to reclaiming death as a sacred passage. 

This comprehensive course prepares students to become truly effective and heart-centered companions for those facing serious illness, dying, and death. Weaving together ancient wisdom and modern insight, it draws from a rich tapestry of cultural, clinical, spiritual, historical, and ethical perspectives to form a curriculum that is both scholarly and soulful. Grounded in relationship-centered care and the ethics of sacred service, participants emerge prepared to advocate, support, and companion others at life's threshold with clarity, courage, and compassion.

 Level II - Applied Mastery

Level II - Applied Mastery is The HeartWay’s advanced training and supervision program designed for those ready to deepen their end-of-life care skills, this immersive supervision and mentorship program guides you from theory into real-world practice with confidence, clarity, and heart.

Over six (6) transformative months, you’ll receive personalized supervision, hands-on learning opportunities, and a supportive community that helps you grow into your unique gifts as an end-of-life practitioner.

Flourishing Your Practice: 

Led by Dr. Andrea Deerheart, PhD, ELP, this experience combines ethical business development, clinical best practices, and sustainable practitioner care into one integrated training. 

Flourishing your Practice is an immersive two-day workshop designed specifically for practitioners who want to create a thriving practice without compromising integrity, clinical excellence, or personal wellbeing. 

This workshop supports practitioners at every stage from launching a new practice to refining and strengthening an existing one. Through guided exercises, live planning sessions, and strategic frameworks, participants will leave with practical systems, renewed clarity, and a customized roadmap for the next 90 days.

 End-of-Life Practitioner (ELP) Level III- Deepening the Path: The Sacred Skills of Presence, Compassion & Ceremony in End-of-Life Care

When we meet death with reverence, we remember how to live. This 5-day in-person intensive—Deepening the Path—is designed for those who have laid the foundations of end-of-life care and are now called to embody the sacred art of dying more fully. It offers a soul-rich, skill-deepening journey into clinical awareness, compassionate presence, energetic healing, ceremonial practice, grief tending, and legacy work.

Through immersive, embodied learning—held in a sacred and supportive community—we explore the anatomy and physiology of death, deepen our relational and spiritual competencies, and gain confidence in the sacred rituals of dying and after-death care.
